Information on the Catalogue Plus

The Catalogue Plus is a combination of the library catalogue and the search in the EDS Index (EBSCO Discovery Service Index). Other databases licensed by us have also been added to this index.

How does the search in the Catalogue Plus work?

A search queries both data pools (catalogue and EDS index) in parallel using search engine technology. With a single search, you can find our catalogue holdings and additional content from licensed and open-access databases as well as from scientific publications. Wherever possible, existing full texts are linked directly.

You will receive two lists of results: "Catalogue" and "Articles & more".

Results list – "Catalogue"

  • The "Catalogue" results list shows you which books and journals are available at Wuppertal University Library, whether books are on loan, and provides access to our electronic books and journals.
    • By default, the results list is sorted so that the most recent items appear first. This order can be changed; for example, you can sort by relevance instead.
    • You can use the slider to limit the hits to the desired publication period.
    • Your search results can also be refined using facets – for example, by literature type or language.
  • You must log in to Catalogue Plus to view your library account or to place renewals, reservations, and magazine orders.
  • Electronic books and journals can be accessed via the provided links.

Results list – "Articles & more"

  • The "Articles & more" results list provides you with results from the various sources of the EDS index. The index combines a large number of full-text articles and reference data from various publishers.
  • Unlike the "Catalogue" results list, the hits here may or may not be available in the library's holdings. This list is sorted by relevance by default.
  • You can use intuitive facets to restrict your search results—for instance, to a specific subject or publisher.
  • Wherever possible, full texts are linked directly in the results.
  • For hits without a full-text link, you can use the familiar "How do I get it?" link to find out how to obtain the document.
